Story:

"It was just another ordinary day...until Sonic, hero of justice, is accosted by a secret military force code-named G.U.N Escaping the confines of a high-security helicopter, Sonic leaps down into the city streets in an effort to flee from his captors. Suddenly, a mysterious black hedgehog appears in front of him, grasping a Chaos Emerald in his hands. Meanwhile, across the globe, unexplained incidents occur following the declaration of world conquest by Eggman himself. Once aware of the connection between Shadow and Dr. Eggman, Sonic begins his quest to stop their evil plan, helped along the way by his old friends: Tails and Knuckles."

"While searching for a top secret weapon known only as 'Shadow,' the evil genius, Dr. Eggman, penetrates the security of a high-level military base. Deep inside the compound, Dr. Eggman discovers that the weapon is actually a black hedgehog claiming himself as the 'ultimate life form,' a creature known as 'Shadow.' Shadow invites Dr. Eggman to Space Colony ARK and reveals the Eclipse Cannon—an enormous weapon capable of destroying the world, more than enough to entice the evil genius to help out Shadow in his quest to conquer the world. Just as they begin to revel in their plan for destruction, the villains are startled by a menacing bat named Rouge who offers her help as well. Thus, the plot to conquer the world begins..."

Clone a Chao
You must have two memory cards with at least 128 blocks on each. First take the chao you want to clone out on one of the VMUs. Now either e-mail yourself a copy or copy it to the file manager on the Dreamcast. Now download the file to the other card, the file’s name is Sonic2____VM, you now have made a copy of your chao.


Unlock Main Theme
To unlock the "Main Theme" in Sound Test, you have to complete all three stories (Hero, Dark and Last). Select 1P mode, Last story, and fight the Final Hazard again. After the Credits, go to Stage Select mode, choose any mission and finish it. Once that's done, go to the Sound Test menu and select the "Character" option. There you will see "Main Theme" above the "Theme of Sonic".

Unlock 1 Player Kart Race

Unlock All Boss Attack
To unlock the All Boss Attack, you must completed the Hero Story, Dark Story and the Last Story. Once this is done you will be able to see the All option under the boss menu available in the 1 player menu. The All Boss attack is a time attack where you face all the bosses from the game in succession with no breaks.

'A' Ranking the Alternative Way
To get the A rank for a mission you must collect every golden ring in the level without losing them. If you do this, you should get a 'Perfect' stamp on the Ring Count and a guaranteed 'A' rank.

Clean Pause
Pause the game and hold the X and Y buttons to get a clear pause screen. This will only work with controller A.

Unlock Dark Boss Attack
Beat the game with the Dark Side to unlock the Dark Boss Attack mode in 1 Player mode. This mode is basically a Time Attack to see how quickly you can beat all bosses on the Dark Side.

Free Chao
To get more Chao in your gardens, just take an Egg or Chao from Sonic Adventure 1 and put in a VMU. Now go into any Chao Garden in Sonic Adventure 2, and take the Chao out there. You now will have the Chao/egg in Sonic Adventure 2. NOTE: This only works when porting to Sonic Adventure 2. You will not be able to return the chao/egg back to Sonic Adventure if you do this.

Unlock Hero and Dark Races
You first must have the Hero and Dark Gardens unlocked. Once that’s done, you will have to beat all the Beginner's Races to unlock two special race modes.

Unlock Hero Boss Attack
Beat the game with the Hero Side to unlock the Hero Boss Attack in 1 Player mode. This mode is basically a Time Attack to see how quickly you can beat all bosses on the Hero Side.

Hidden Sonic Adventure 2 Artwork
Insert the Sonic Adventure 2 CD into any CD-ROM drive and look in the root directory of the CD to find hidden artwork to put on your desktop.

Upgrades without the Work
After upgrading your character exit the level. When leaving the level go to stage select and go to any level that is easy and quick enough for you complete. After completing the level the game will save your upgrade.

Hero and Dark Chao Gardens
Raise a Hero Chao to unlock the Hero Garden, and raise a Dark Chao to unlock the Dark Garden.

Unlock Jewel and Challenge Chao Races
Beat all 3 levels of the Beginner Races (Crab Pool, Stump Valley, Mushroom Forest, and Block Canyon) to unlock both the Jewel Race and Challenge Race.

VS Mode Costumes
If you want a different costume for a character you must beat all of the character’s missions first.

Toys for Chaos
Win 3 Crab Pool Races to win a shovel.
Win 3 Stump Valley Races to win an elephant watering can.
Win 3 Mushroom Forest Races to win a rattle.
Win 3 Block Canyon Races to win a toy car.

Unlock Boss Mode
Beat the Hero Side or Dark Side to access Boss Mode as the side you beat. It will appear under 1-Player Mode and allows you to fight all the bosses from that side in order.

Unlock Diamond and Onyx Chao Races
Win at least one race from each of the Aquamarine, Garnet, Peridot, and Topaz Chao Races to unlock the Onyx and Diamond Chao Races.

Unlock Final Stage
To unlock the Final Stage, Cannon's Core, first beat the Hero and Dark Sides in 1 player Story Mode. Then the Last Side menu will be available in Story Mode.

Unlock Green Hill
To unlock the 3D version of Green Hill, you must collect all 180 emblems in the game.

Win a Chao Radio
To get a radio for your Chao, complete the 4th Dark Race, the 'Angel vs. Devil' race. After you do this, you'll find a radio for your Chao in the Dark Garden.

Win a Chao TV
To get a TV for your chao, win the 12th race in the Challenge Races. After you do this, you'll find a little TV for your Chao in the Chao Garden.

Win a jack-in-the-box
To get a jack-in-the-box for your chao, win the 8th Challenge race. After you do this, you'll find a jack-in-the-box in the Chao Garden.

Win a Rocking Horse
To get a rocking horse for your Chao, you must win the 4th Hero Race, the 'Devil vs. Angel' race. After you do this, you'll find a rocking horse for your Chao in the Hero Garden.

Win Chao Ball
To get the Chao ball, you must win the 4th Challenge Race, the ''Small Animal'' race. After you do this, you'll find a ball in the Chao Garden.

Win Chao Ball for Dark Garden
To get the Chao Ball for the Dark Garden, you must win the 2nd Dark Race. After you do this, you'll find a new Chao Ball in the Dark Garden.

Win Chao Ball for Hero Garden
To get the Chao Ball for the Hero garden, you must win the 2nd Hero Race. After you do this, you'll find a Chao Ball for your Hero Garden.

Wake a sleeping Chao
To wake a sleeping chao without it getting pissed off at you, you must stand right next to it and whistle until it wakes up.

Frankenchao
So you want to bring back to life a chao that you cherished so much, eh? Well you first have to have your other chaos mate until an egg appears. Next is to take some chaos drives and form a circle with them around the egg. Now wait till the egg turns white with yellow on top of it. Once that happens bring a chao over and place it near the egg. Now watch as the little guy play God, and when it’s done you will now have your old chao back with every animal piece still attached.

Kindergarten Waiting Game
So you place d your chao in Kindergarten and you don’t feel like waiting. Well, exit chao world and go play four levels, after you completed the fourth level you should be able to pick your chao up.

Devil Chao
You must reincarnate a Chao twice. After its second reincarnation, give it every type of animal, including Imaginary and Ghost ones. Now, go to the black market to get a Dark Fruit and wait until it evolves.

Angel Chao
You must reincarnate a Chao twice. After its second reincarnation, give it every type of animal, including Imaginary and Ghost. Now, go to the black market to get a Hero Fruit and wait until it evolves.

Light Chaos Chao
You must reincarnate a Chao twice. After its second reincarnation, give it every type of animal, including Imaginary and Ghost. Now, go to the black market to get a Chao Fruit and wait until it evolves.

Big the Camera Hog Cat
Let’s face it someone on Sonic Team likes the big guy, and decided to place him all throughout the game, even in the cut scenes! To see Big in some of the cut scenes you need to press both the A and B buttons rapidly until you see him. Big can also be spotted outside the cut scenes too, how many can you find?

Night Chao
Have a Dark and Hero character give the Chao lots of purple system animals or purple chaos drives until it becomes a Neutral Chao. Now you choose one hero or dark character to take care of the Chao. After it first evolves, keep giving it purple Chaos drives.

Ghost Chao
Give your Chao lots of bats using a dark character until it evolves.

Sonic Chao
Have a Dark and Hero character give the Chao lots of green system animals or green chaos drives until it becomes a Neutral Chao. Now you choose one character to take care of the Chao. After it first evolves, keep giving it green Chaos drives.

Dragon Chao
Have a Dark and Hero character give the Chao lots of red system animals or red chaos drives until it becomes a Neutral Chao. Now you choose one hero or dark character to take care of the Chao. After it first evolves, keep giving it red Chaos drives.

Alien Chao
Have a Dark and Hero character give the Chao lots of yellow system animals or yellow chaos drives until it becomes a Neutral Chao. Now you choose one hero or dark character to take care of the Chao. After it first evolves, keep giving it yellow chaos drives.

VMU Stats
To gain intelligence, get the smart fruit. To gain luck, pick the right treasure chest; however you will loose luck if you pick the empty chest. To gain stamina you must win a seed at the end of Chao Adventure 2 in the VMU. Then plant the seed and feed it fruit from it to your chao to gain stamina.
