Let’s face it all sites evolve, but wouldn’t it be nice to look back at how much they have evolved? This section is dedicated to the previous layouts that Sonic Style has gone through the years.
Here’s a look at the very first layout of Sonic Style. At the time I didn’t know much about HTML so I tried to use as little as possible. Even from the beginning we incorporated the GBA layout into the comics, however this was the only way to view the comics at the time. Sadly, Bravenet had too many ads for it’s free hosting plan so Sonic Style moved to Geocities, having less space and also less ads. The only word about Sonic Style that was getting out was through web rings.
August 25th to October of 2004
This layout was put together when I first transferred over to Geocites. The layout here was a free pre-made anime layout, but was quickly changed to use Sonic characters. Wanting to grow Sonic Style decided to take it up a notch and add the site to top sites. This layout also featured our first affiliates, SCV6, Sonic Wrecks, and Twinkle Park. This layout also introduced the shout-out box. By the end of November, Geocities’ free web hosting could no longer support Sonic Style. On November 25th, Sonic Style now owned its own domain, www.sonicstyle.org.
October 2004 to February 16, 2005
A new year started a new trend began on February 17th, Sonic Style decided to take a professional look to it. By now I was very comfortable with html, and started to work with Dreamweaver to create the layouts. By the time this layout came along there we’re two places to chat the shout-out and the forums, and one of them had to go, can you guess which went? This layout introduced the random game of the moment at the top right corner, and hidden animated icons.
February 17, 2005 to June of 2005
The layout was once again changed in June to a more cartoon look. This was to make the comics and the layout blend together as a whole instead of sections. What was added to the site was a bookmarker button and the remix section on the right side of the layout. During this layout Sonic Style won its first award and hosted its first contest for SEGA.
June of 2005 to January 8th, 2006
This is probably the most recognized layout from Sonic Style, and the longest one that has been used. The layout was finally retired to remove the restrictions that were presented with a table layout. During the duration of this layout Sonic Billboard was introduced and Sonic Style won the Sonic Site Award for 2007.
