Hatsune Sings Sonic Classics

If Japan is the land of the rising sun, the British Empire is the land where the sun never sets and the Arctic Circle is the land of the midnight sun; where does the sun go? Apparently it curls up into the fetal position and nervously rocks back and forth over Japan, or so says economic reports. What on Earth does this have to do with anything? Nothing, I just like messing with you.

Speaking of Japan, awesome segue I know, it looks like someone with a Miku Hatsune and a Ren Kagamine Vocaloid decided to synthesize Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant Zone. Now that I pretty much lost a good majority of you, I will explain who’s who. (Video after the jump, you can also turn the text off by clicking the speech bubble on the player)

Sonic at the Convenience Store

I’ve either been watching wa~ay too many Japanese commercials for the video section, or this video makes perfect sense for Sonic. The song itself has been tweaked a little, so you will have to read both the close captions and the annotations. Here’s a little game you can play if you don’t want to read anything, see how many Sonic characters are in the video. I counted around 30.

What does a dancing robot and Shadow the Hedgehog have in common? Why none other than m-flo’s Tripod Baby Shadow the Hedgehog Mix music video. Who is m-flo? M-flo is a popular Japanese hip-hop band whose albums have (so far) all been in Japan’s top ten hits. Why Shadow the Hedgehog? Both Taku Takahashi and Verbal are big fans of our little break dancing anti-hero. Alright so it’s more like a shuffle then break dancing.

Happy Birthday Sonic Style!

Birthday

Sonic Style turned five this Thanksgiving; and to our surprise, has been selected as a nominee for most entertaining in the Sonic Site Awards. Sweet, our devilishly good looks are wearing you down to the bone! Not to mention the chips we’ve implanted into your skull while you were sleeping are starting to kick in. By the way you’re out of milk. As for me, I’m going to continue to stuff my face with turkey until an actual coma kicks in. Mmm, brain hemorrhage.

True Color

It’s the fourth quarter, and it’s time to push as much product as possible. Starting us off back in October is Jun Senoue with his latest album "The Works;" a compilation album of 24 songs, with the first 17 of them featuring Eric Martin and Skye Sweetnam. Next on the list, which was released on November 18th, was Crush 40’s album, "The Best of Crush 40," subtitled "Super Sonic Songs." Don’t be confused by the subtitle, only 11 of the 16 songs are Sonic songs. Last but not least is the second installment of the "Best of Sonic the Hedgehog" series and Makoto Senoue’s third consecutively produced album, "True Colors – The Best of Sonic the Hedgehog Part 2." So far the songs are still undecided, but we’ve manage to find six possible track titles.

Throw It All Away
Theme of E-102
E. G. G. M. A. N.
Dreams of An Absolution (tentative) (2009 Remix)
All Hail Shadow (Hybrid Mix feat. Mike Szuter)
Lazy Days (Original Demo Hybrid Mix feat. Ted Poley)
"True Colors – The Best of Sonic the Hedgehog Part 2," releases December 16th for ¥2,500

Oh yeah, the site’s layout is completely updated except the Sonic Billboard section.
